Sgt Waterman was a USAF video/TV broadcaster, working in an AFTN communications hut at Udorn, Thailand on 10 Apr 70 when a battle-damaged USAF aircraft (RF-4C)) missed the runway on landing attempt and crashed into the building killing Waterman along with all others in the structure at the time, including the following airmen:
TSgt Jack Hawley
TSgt James Howard
SSgt Andrew McCartney,
A1C Alfred Potter,
SSgt John Rose
Sgt Frank Ryan
TSgt Edward Strain
SSgt Roy Walker
Evidently, the crash resulted in a tremendous fire... but both F-4 crew survived
