The 34th Tactical Fighter Squadron - 100 Mission Party
AIRCRAFT >> FIGHTERS >> F-105

Vietnam War 1968 - Thailand: the 34th Tactical Fighter Squadron celebrated it's pilots 100 Mission flights in a unique fashion. It consisted of the pilot being met at the revetment in his F-105 Thunderchief (Thud) aircraft, with the refueling probe extended. He was met by members of his squad, who supplied a special scarf with his name embroidered on it, a ride on the very special SNOOPY CART around the base along with the traditional special secret mix Pineapple drink. The party concluded with the pilot being hosed down with a firehouse, a party at the barracks and a toss in the base swimming pool.
With all this fun, the 100th mission was in fact a very special day. To fly missions in Vietnam and live to tell about it was enough in itself to celebrate, but to make it 100 missions, that was exemplary and truly a courgeous act. They had a right to celebrate!
The members of the 34th TFS aided with all the details for this painting. I can't thank them enough for their input.
