Despite the threat of harm from his captors, Major George “Bud” Day
defiantly sings the American national anthem while a POW (prisoner of war),
during the Vietnam war. After forced to parachute from his F-100F aircraft, he
was captured and tortured to include having his limbs broken and being shot at.
Day ultimately spent five years and seven months a POW never losing faith in
his country and in that of his fellow prisoners. Upon his release, he was
awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor by President Gerald Ford for his
bravery and patriotism during the most challenging of circumstances.
Following his retirement from the military, Major Day was a lawyer and author
writing the book; "Return with Honor", followed by "Duty, Honor, Country".
