I Find That Many Of Us Associate Air Force Art With Aircraft Drawings Of Certain Severity And Military Grandeur. The Subject Of My Painting Is Not All Together As Obvious As The Composition Suggests. The Illustration Of The Strategic Air Command Base At Minot, North Dakota Is Rather Straightforward In Its Impression Of Peace Linked In Its Symbolic Diversity Of Color And Military Detail.A Single Portrait Of A B-52 Pilot, In The Lower Left Hand Corner, Shows Eyes Unblinking, As If Constrained By Discipline, Helping Me To Achieve The Clarity And Directness I Want My Work To Have. This Permits The Handling Of The Illustration In A Mature Approach To Decorative Design Which Exemplifies In My Eyes The Visual Technology Of Todays Air Force.
