“Caring Hands”
Senior Airman (first name unknown) Payton, with the 59th Medical Wing at Lackland AFB, provides medical aide to Ms. Betty Porter at Louis Armstrong International Airport, New Orleans, LA. Air Force medical personnel are frequently called upon to provide their compassionate care and aide to people all over the world.
According to artist; “The painting was done after Hurricane Katrina from a photo (by TSgt Jason Tudor) around 24 Aug 2005. I was flown into Biloxi, MS as a member of the Air Force Art Program Office, and had to find my way to Keesler AFB on my own due to the fact transportation wasn’t available! A kindly, and elderly woman in a van drove me to the base. I was too busy trying not to get in the way of the USAF personnel doing their job, so I didn’t get the SrA’s first name. Her patient was in, what I could gather, a serious condition, so I kept my distance.”
