Description:
The French Fielded A Spad Vii, This New Type Fighter Late In 1916. It Was Called The French Albatros, Being It Had An V-Type In Line Engine. It Was Armed With A Single Synchronized Vickers Gun And Was The Favorite Of French Aces. The British Also Used This Type, As Well As The American Lafayette Esc. Shown Is The French Ace, Guynemer In A Spad-7 Downing The Top German Navy Ace Theo Ostercamp Flying An Older Albatros D-II Fighter. He Landed Unharmed And Was Soon Back In Action. He Survived The War With 32 Victories, While Guynemer Died In September 1917, With 54 Victories Becoming A French Hero Who Is Remembered To This Day. Over 5,600 Were Built And Flew Until The War Ended. Later 300 Spad 12s Were Built With A 37mm Cannon. These Were Not As Successful.
