After The Nieuports 11 16 Models Came The More Powerful 120/130 Hp Model 17, Which Became The Most Outstanding Nieuport Of The War And A Favorite Of Both French And British Aces. British Ace Albert Ball Is Shown Shooting Down Two Albatross D-11 Fighters, In A Fight Which Sent German Ace Hohndorf To A Hospital For Months. Of Ball's 44 Victories, Most Were Gained In His Nieuport 17. It Was The Only Allied Fighter Able To Sucessfully Fight The Albatross Fighters. Ball's Favorite Tactic Was To Get Uner An Enemy Plane And Shoot Up Into The Cockpit. Von Richthofen's Brother Was Said To Be Terrified Being Caught Like That. Nieuport 23 Was An Improved Type With Better Streamlining And A Tail Like The Later Model 28.
