Description:
This Wing Warping, Prewar Design Was Equipped With Bullet Deflectors On The Propeller And Enabled French Pilot Garros To Install A Fixed Machine Gun Able To Fire Forward Through The Revolving Propeller. With This He Shot Down Five German Airplanes Between 1 And 16 April 1915. Newspapers Proclaimed Him An Ace Thus Creating This New Title (Which Later Became Officials). He Never Became An Official French Ace. A Friend, Adolphe Pegoud Also Flying A Morane Aircraft, Became The First Official Ace With Six Victories (Before He Was Killed In August 1915). Garros Became A POW, Escaped, And Was Killed on October 5, 1918 While Flying A Spad Fighter.
