Hanriot Fighters from the 80A Squadriglia based at Marcon, Italy are flying top cover over the Caproni CA-3s. American Airmen flying with the XI Grouppo are on a mission to bomb retreating enemies in the vicinity of Sacile. There were 70 American Aviators who flew with the Italian Forces against the Austrians, and only one was killed. All American pilots who took part in the bombardment against the enemy were decorated with the Italian War Cross. Altogether, they flew 65 bombing missions in the Caproni Bombers beginning on June 20, 1918.
