Captain Rickenbacker's first victory was won on April 29, 1918. And by May 30, 1918, he had brought down his 5th plane making him an Ace. He always flew and fought with coolness and logic, never refusing a fight. Yet planning on having every advantage when he did so. In this painting, he is shown attacking 7 German aircraft single handedly on September 25, 1918. For gallantry in this air combat over Bill, France, he was awarded the Medal of Honor.
