DH-4 (de-Havilland) mass-produced for our WWI air war effort and by 1918 5,000 planes had been turned out in the U.S. The DH-4 Liberty Engines were America's msot significant technical contribution to the air war. This engine became the backbone of American Military Aviation and remained so until the mid 1920's.
