The catalyst for this painting was my conversation with a crew chief who was working on a Fairchild A-10, commonly known as The Warthog, at Nellis AFB, July 2005. The sergeant proudly pointed out the uniqueness of the airplane and its various attributes. Describing the high fire rate and resulting sound of the Warthog's 30 mm Gatling gun, he said "When you hear it, it's too late". My painting is an illustrating of the quote. It is also a salute to the crews, and I hope they like it.
