Painting depicts one of many Spitfire V fighter planes flown by the then, 21 year old Lieutenant Adams, who flew many combat missions in WWII. On the fuselage are painted Swastikas accounting for the enemy planes shot down. Also pictured are medallions, only four of the many ribbons and medals awarded the young fighter pilot. About the plane: the Royal Air Force Spitfire V Fighters were given by the British Government to the U.S. Government on what was known as a reverse lend-lease program. These were flown by two groups of American pilots.
