According to eyewitness testimony, and artifacts recovered during a
recent excavation of the crash site, Major Thomas McGuire was on the
verge of recovery from a low altitude, inverted stall when he simply ran
out of sky in which to maneuver. He crashed into the bank of a creek in
the small town of Cadiz, on Negros Occidental, PI; completely inverted
(as evidenced by only cockpit pieces being retrieved from deep in the
creek bank). It is clear he was on his way to pulling out of the stall
when the ran out of sky needed to complete his recovery. He almost
brought his P-38 upright, a maneuver which many feel only McGuire was
talented enough to effect. He "Almost Recovered".
