The P-26as Pictured Were Part Of The 34th Pursuit Squadron Of The 17th Pursuit Group Based At March Field, California In 1934 And 1935. Tail Numbers Of The 34th Squadron Were 1 Through 18. In Squadron Operation, Tail Number 7 Was Aircraft Serial Number 33-64. Aircraft Serial Number 33-135, One Of Two Surviving P-26as, Is Currently On Display At The National Air And Space Museum In Washington, Dc. In Service, This Aircraft Was Attached To The 94th Pursuit Squadron At Selfridge Field And Was Marked Number 35.P-26as Were Powered By Pratt And Whitney R-1340-27 Air Cooled Radial Engines Rated At 570 Hp At 2000 Rpm At 7500 Feet. Maximum Speed At Optimum Altitude Was 234 Mph.
