Description:
The Artist Explains The Inspiration Behind This Painting: While On A Trip For The USAF Art Program We Visited The Only United States Unit Under Operational Control Of A Foreign National (Dutch). This Was The 32nd Pursuit Squadron At Camp New Amsterdam In Soesterberg, Holland.During Our Visit To The Line General Disosway (Gabriel P. Commander In Chief, U.S.. Air Forces In Europe) Came Through And An Alert Was Sounded As Part Of His Inspection Tour. The Speed And Efficiency Demonstrated In Getting Airborne Within A Matter Of A Little Over A Minute Was Very Impressive As Was The Caliber Of Men Manning This Equipment. The Painting Is Intended As A Tribute To The Alert Air Force Personnel Who Maintain And Sustain This Standard Even In A Noncombat Situation.
