Of This Painting The Artist Wrote: I Entered Seoul With The Un Forces Early In The Korean War As A War Correspondent. The Great Medieval Gate In One Of The Citys Central Squares Impressed Me As The Most Representative Of Koreas Architectural Monuments. The Square Was Not Much Different--Though Greatly Cleaned Up--When I Saw It Again And Sketched In In 1956 When On An Air Force Tour Of The Far East. As Impressive As Ever--And As Then--The Square Displays A Good Cross Section Of Seouls Street Life Well-Sprinkled With Un Troops (And Of Course USAF Spending Their Leave, Sightseeing And Girl Watching!
