I Served From Feb 1967 To Feb 1968 As A Soldier/Artist With The 1st Air Cavalry Division In An Khe, South Vietnam. I Wanted To Do A Painting That Showed The Tremendous Cooperative Effort Of The Air Force And Army In Vietnam. I Titled This Illustration, Night Approach, Bien Hoa, South Vietnam. Because This Is Where I First Arrived In The Country. I Particularly Wanted To Capture The Lonely Drama Of New Troops Arriving In This Hot And Humid War Zone A Feeling I Will Never Forget.
