Captain Charles Hall Of The 99th Fighter Squadron Was Born In Brazil, Indiana, And Joined The Air Corps In 1941, Receiving All His Training At Tuskegee University. He Was Credited With The First African-American Aerial Victory, A German Focker Wulf 190, On 2 July 1943 While Assigned To The 99th Fighter Squadron Stationed In Tunisia. He Was Flying A P-40 At The Time. He Received Credit For Two More Victories, 28 Jan 1944. He Was One Of Three First 43 African Americans Assigned To Combat Duty. He Achieved The First Victory While Flying An Attack Mission On Panelleria Islands In The Mediterranean Theater. It Earned Him The Distinguished Flying Cross. He Retired From The Air Force As A Major And Became A Popular Insurance Salesman In Oklahoma City. Born 25 Aug 1920, He Died 22 Nov 71.
