This painting depicts a picnic in rural America around 1917. Two young boys spot a Jenny Curtiss clipping the tops of the trees as they come running up to their friend. The feeling that I have tried to capture here is the excitement felt by these young boys at sighting a plane for the first time. Many people at this time in rural America had seldom seen a plane, if ever.
