The painting depicts a flight of returning fighter aircraft in the three ship missing man formation signaling to all the loss of a fourth member of their flight. The formation of the three F-105s represents all types which served in the war in Southeast Asia. They are superimposed on a faded 50 star flag of the United States which bears the inscription: Forget Me Not. The original oil painting was done by the artist for the U.S. Air Force Art Collection as a permanent memorial to the dead and missing in action in the war in Southeast Asia. Monies from the sale of the original print edition were shared with the Red River Valley Fighter Pilots Association Scholarship Fund to assist in the education of the children of the men who did not return from Southeast Asia.
