Description:
From the artist: Researched at Williams Air Force Base, Arizona, Aug 1977. Met, sketched, photographed and painted the 10 young Air Force women chosen to go thru pilot training. Followed them on their work assignments. I found them all to be dedicated, motivated, extremely bright young women who are feminine and gracious to know. I particularly wanted to reflect in my painting their feminine grace--they wear the gear of a fighter pilot, they fly the planes with great appetites, they remain very admirable contributing Air Force Women, a credit to their gender. Below are the names of the first ten women to graduate for Undergraduate Pilot Training (UPT): Captain Mary H. Donahue, Captain Connie J. Engel, Captain Kathy La Sauce, Captain Susan D. Rogers, 1Lt Victoria K. Crawford, 1Lt Mary H. Livingston, 1Lt Carol Ann Scherer, 1Lt Christine E. Schott, 1Lt Sandra M. Schott, and 2Lt Kathleen A. Rambo-Cosand.
