An Around The World Flight Was Successfully Accomplished By The Army Air Service In 1924. The Flight Took 175 Days Of Which 363 Hours Were Air Time, Covering Over 26,000 Miles. Each Aircraft Was Equipped With A Specially Designed Workshop To Facilitate Repairs During The Flight. The Airplanes Were Designed And Built By Douglas Aircraft Corporation With Modifications Suggested By The Aircrews. The Collier Trophy Was Awarded For This Feat.
