To fill another square towards his hoped for fighter deployment to Southeast Asia, the artist volunteered to attend Tactical Air Command's Deep Sea Survival School. He found the course exciting, strenuous, wet and very worthwhile. The finale found this civilian parasailing to 500 feet, deploying life preserver units, a raft and survival kit, and descending by parachute into Biscayne Bay to spend a day in what must be the world's smallest boat. The painting shows the artist (student #25, Class 67-18) as the downed airman at sea with sea anchor deployed, raft patches at the ready, radio in hand...and alone.
