General Carl Spaatz, Commanding General Of The United States Strategic Air Forces In Europe, Was Born In Earlville, Pennsylvania, June 28, 1891. He Was Graduated From West Point In 1914 And Assigned To The Aviation Section Of The Signal Corps In 1916. In Combat Theaters He Has Commanded The 8th Air Force , North African Air Forces, And The 12th Air Force, And The U.S. Air Forces In The Mediterranean. He Is Rated As A Command Pilot And Combat Observer And Has The D.S.C., The D.S.M, The Legion Of Merit, The D.F.C., The Air Medal The Grand Officer Of French Legion Of Honor, The Russian Order Of Suvorov, And Is A Knight Commander Of The Order Of The British Empire. He Reluctantly Gave One Hour And Five Minutes To Having His Portrait Painted.
