Colonel Karl Polifka - A Senior Pilot, Who Was Born In New Mexico - Commanded The 90th Photo Reconnaissance Wing In Italy, After Serving In The Southwest Pacific In 1942 And Africa In 1943-44. He Received The Air Medal For Low Altitude Reconnaissance Over Burma And The Vicinity Resulting After Bombing In Starvation And Withdrawal Of Some 10,000 Japs In The Owen Stanley Range. He Received The D.S.C. From The 5th Army For Reconnaissance Of Enemy Positions Facing It On 26 November 1943 In The Mt. Maggiori And Casino Area.
