Description:
"Tiger on the Prowl" depicts a member of the famed Flying Tigers attacking a Betty bomber and her escort, a lone Zeke fighter. The Flying Tigers gave Americans hope when things were at their darkest for the U.S. during World War II. They were made up of Americans (known as American Volunteer Group) fighting for China to protect her from Japanese air attack. They were paid $500.00 for every Japanese aircraft shot down. The Flying Tigers shot down over 280 enemy aircraft while losing less than 10 aircraft. They were disbanded after the U.S. entered the war. Their legacy lives on with the 23rd Fighter Group flying the A-10 Thunderbolt II at Moody AFB, GA.
