The drawing entitled "Memphis Belle" is a depiction of the famous B-17F Flying Fortress named "Memphis Belle."
Memphis Belle and her crew were the first B-17 and crew to complete 25 combat missions in Europe during World War II. The crew completed the tour first, with the Belle finishing up with another crew the following day. Shortly after completing her tour of duty in Europe, she was flown back to the United States on a War Bond Tour. She flew throughout the US promoting the war effort and raising funds to help pay for equipment and material essential to America's fighting force.
