This story, which begged to be illustrated, was told to the artist during Exercise Eagle Flag, July 2013, by TSgt Parker Gyokeres, Chief of Public Affairs, 621st Contingency Response Wing. The event pictured involves his brother Zach.
The event took place at Keflavik Naval Air Station, December 2001: Senior Airman/Crew Chief Zachary Gyokeres was performing maintenance on an HH-60 PAVEHAWK helicopter when, appropriate to the season, a man wearing a Santa Claus suit walked through the hangar. Gyokeres, alert to the possible security breach, jumped from the top of his aircraft and flattened Santa with an elbow attack. By way of explanation, Gyokeres announced, "No line badge!"
Turns out Santa was the base Security Forces Commander who planned to conduct a test on his own troops but Gyukeres attacked him before he could reach them.
Gyokeres was awarded a commendation from the Security Forces Commander for his vigilance and action.
