The Stars and Stripes was a study done on the Barrack Square for my big picture of the Change-Over. May 3rd, 1943, saw the historic occasion when the earliest of the R.A.F. fighter stations to be handed over was transferred to the U.S. Army Air Forces and it was here--the new home of the "Eagle Squadrons" on their activation, September 12, 1942--that "Old Glory" first proudly flew on an American fighter base in this country.
