Description:
TSgt John Chapman was honored with the Medal of Honor posthumously in 2018 for his heroism at Takur Ghar Mountain, (Roberts Ridge) Afghanistan. He was a special tactics air combat controller attached to a SEAL team conducting reconnaissance in search of a vantage point on the enemy. As they were landing, the enemy was already occupying and tried to ambush the team. In their efforts to leave, Roberts fell out of the helicopter. Chapman and his team volunteered to go back to rescue. He engaged the enemy and killing many regardless of his own life to clear a path of rescue. He continued to fight even mortally wounded.
