I First Heard About The Radar Tower Scller" Of Majorca During My Stay At Torrejon Air Base Outside Of Madrid, Spain. After A Two Hour Flight To Palna, Majorca, I Went By Train Up Through Hill, Past Small Towns And Villages, To The Village Of Scller: From There By Bus Still Higher In The Mountains To The Base Camp. There, In The Clear Blue Morning Sky, High Above Me On The Mountain Top Was The Tower. We Went The Last Five Miles Ups A Winding, Twisting Road To The Summit. There, Spread Out Below Me, As Far As The Eye Could See, Was A Breath Taking Panorama Of The Hills And Mountains All The Way To The Sea. As I Was Sketching, A Storm Started Coming In Over The Horizon Silhouetting The Radar Tower And Rocks Which Were Still Bathes In Sunlight Against The Black Sky. In My Painting I Endeavored To Portray The Great Lonely Beauty That Exists Along With This Vital And Seemingly Islolated Duty."
