The Words Of The Artist Best Describe His Experience That Led To The Painting: The C-123 Is The Workhorse Of Alaska, Flying To Distant Early Warning Lines And To Remote Sites, Transporting Men And Equipment Back And Forth, Landing On Difficult Runways Under Difficult Conditions.During The Flight, Whether Long Or Short, Communication Between Passengers And Crew Was At A Minimum Because Of The Constant Noise. The Pastime Was Looking Out At The Alaskan Landscape, Looking At The Interior Of The Plane, Or Just Looking...I Was Sure These Men Would Have So Much To Say About Themselves, Their Town In Alaska, About Flying, And Yet Rarely Were Three More Than A Few Words Exchanged. This Everyday Routine, On A Flight From Kotzebue, Alaska, Was A Painting To Me.
