My painting depicts OSI Senior Staff Advisor/Analyst, Scott Whippo, on horse back by a river east of Bagram, Afghanistan. We had just returned from a mission into the Kohi Safi Valley with Bob Powers in command. The Kohi Safi Valley was considered too dangerous for U.S. personnel to enter. After OSI completed several missions in the Summer of 2005 into the Valley, other U.S. troops followed. We had stopped in a village by this river where this OSI unit met with a local Warlord to gather information. This was in Spring 2006 and it showed me how the United States Air Force OSI (Office of Special Investigations) were winning hearts and minds in this hostile war zone.
