Unlike the flat snow and ice terrain of the Arctic, Antarctica has huge mountain ranges and active glaciers, even in active volcanoes. Under much of the surface of ice and snow is actual land, but nothing green grows there. Temperatures often go as low as -60 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter. Parts of the mountainous regions are quite beautiful in good weather.
