In The Montagnard Village Of Plei Piom, The United States Air Force Had Done A Great Job Of Winning Over The People From The Viet Cong. The Air Force had Installed A Town Pump And Dammed Up A Muddy Creek To Set Up A Concrete Reservoir With Pure, Fresh Running Water. With This Group Was An Airman First Class, A Negro From Illinois Named Luther M. Bailey, Who Loved Children. Over A Period Of Weeks Airman Bailey Had Taught The Children Of The Village To Sing American Songs. They Loved It. And Whenever He Came To The Village They Followed Him Around Like A Modern Pied Piper. I Drove To Plei Piom From Pleiku With Major Sydney Lester, USAF (San Antonio, Texas), And A Captain Bly, USAF, On Sunday, March 20, 1966, To Get My Story, Make Sketches And Take Over 100 Photographs.
