On September 27, 1959, Typhoon Vera Swept In From The Sea And Almost Obliterated Nagoya, Japan. Tidal Waves Surged Back And Forth Across The City With Huge Logs From The Plywood Factories Steamrolling Over The Flimsy Houses. Thousands Of Square Miles Were Inundated And Over 5,000 People Lost Their Lives. Within Hours A Swarm Of Noisy, Flapping Helicopters Were Plucking Survivors Out Of The Water, Off Dikes And Roof Tops.
