A B-1 Bomber is being tested for cold extremes at the McKinley Climatic Laboratory at Eglin AFB, Florida. The McKinley Climatic Laboratory tests environmental conditions on military and civilian equipment/vehicles alike. The ice and frost builds up when warm moist air from outside gets into the chamber either through personnel leaving and entering the building, or from leaking door seals. It should be noted that large aircraft low temperature testing easily last from four to six weeks.
