The Important Year Of 1908 Saw The Vindication Of The Wright Brothers. The U.S. Army Finally Accepted Their Bid To Build An Airplane For Military Use. The Machine Had To Be Able To Carry Two Men And Fuel For 125 Miles And Fly At Least Ten Miles Nonstop At An Average Speed Of 40 Miles Per Hour. A Series Of Test Flights At Fort Myer, Virginia, Concluded In 1909, Easily Met Those Requirements.
