Description:
This Sikorsky Ch-3c Helicopter Was Used As A Flight Research Test Bed Between 1967 - 1972 To Evaluate And Demonstrate Control/Display Concepts Then Being Developed To Handle The Approach And Landing Phases Of Fixed Wing Vertical/Short Take-Off And Landing (V/Stol) Aircraft. Extensive Modifications Included Installation Of A Pilot Assisted Automatic Flight Control System, Advanced Flight Instruments And Navigation/Guidance Systems. The Ch-3c Was Flown And Operated By The 4950th Test Wing At Wright-Patterson AFB As Part Of A V/Stol Technology Advanced Development Program Conducted By The Then Ari Force Flight Dynamics Laboratory.
