The USAF is in the center of the global spotlight. No longer is the Air Force only a segment of North American culture. It is now exposed to all cultures of the world. An awareness that modes of living accepted for centuries cannot change overnight is not to be overlooked. The accelerated pace in research by Cultural Anthropologists now goes hand-in-hand with the rapid advances of research in Aerospace. Speed, beyond the concept of the layman's understanding has given to us a world only minutes between its father most points. the Air Force is cognizant of a responsibility to create the most favorable relationship or image with the natives of its far flung airposts. An an illustration. In the frozen North, the vast remains of the Ice Age slowly shrinks before the Jet Age of the USAF. Here depicted in Ralph von Lehmden's painting, are young Eskimos with a junior version of their centuries old mode of transmutation--The Dog Sled. They are getting a close view of the strange silhouettes that have been streak through their leaden skies--Jet Age transportation! these young Americans are invited guests of the USAF and are exposed to a new culture far removed from their culture spawned in frozen isolation. Through understanding each other's cultures, both the USAF and thees children of a new generation will create a most needed confidence in each other and security for both. This is the Doctrine of a free world and its precepts laid down through freedom of communication. The World of Ice is only minutes away from Communists Russia.
