C-5a From Travis Air Force Base, California, Flew Into Gonggar, Peoples Republic Of China Air Field, Tibet, Via Hawaii, Guam, Okinawa, And Bejing To Pickup Large Boeing Helicopter. The Chinese Air Force Was Testing At High Altitudes In The Himalayans, Then Were Going To Purchase 11 Of These As Troop Transports To Protect Their Border With India. This Was During The Monsoons In September 1988. Natives In Middle Ground Are Stacking Barley Into Drying Stacks. While The Loadmasters Were Preparing The Chopper For Loading, The Native Loadmaster And His Donkey In The Foreground Came By Us On His Way Into The Village Of Gonggar.
