Description:
One Of The Most Heartening Stories Of The Vietnam War Was The Immediate And Personal Care Of The Wounded. In A Matter Of Hours Men Are Flown From The Battle Areas Around Pleiku, Da Nang, Hue, Etc. Right To The Great USAF Hospital Clark. There, Under The Able Supervision Of Colonel Arthur B. Tarrow, USAF, They Are Given The Finest Of Care. Special Cases Are Flown Aboard The Jet C-141s Back To Hospitals In The U. S. Artist Walter Richards And I Flew Back To Travis AFB, California, Aboard One Of These Air Evac Planes In Ten Hours. In This Painting, Sketched At Clark AFB, I Wanted To Depict The Great Drama And Sense Of Urgency Of This Air Evacuation Work. I Have Never Seen A More Dedicated Group Of Doctors And Nurses Than I Met Here. Two Very Fine Ladies, Well Worth Mentioning Here, Were Major Elvera E. Lindholm From Yokota AFB, Tokyo, And Captain Draves Of Clark AFB, Philippines.
